I am fascinated by the psychology of this kind of person. Those I have met aren’t ‘stupid’, so what makes them buy , so completely, into theories that in many cases are SO provably wrong is interesting.

You’re right- the ones I have met aren’t what I would call stupid, either.

It seems to me, though, that they’re all not as smart as they think they are, and have an undying need to feel smarter than everyone else. That false sense of intelligence gives them the ability to just ignore any facts that don’t fit their world view (because they’re so smart only they can filter out the “fakes”).

Much of it amounts to rationalizing their own behavior, too.
